8,000,000+ babies born worldwide via IVF
Since 1978, over 8 million babies worldwide have been conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures was developed.
Earlier this month, I started birth control. After 3 years of trying to get to the bottom of why we couldn’t get pregnant, we began our journey to IVF. (weird that it starts with birth control, right?!)
I was really scared to share this part of our journey because there’s still so much unknown and so many things happening. There’s a 30-46% success rate for women in their first embryo transfer.
As I typed that up, I almost put “There’s ONLY a 30-46% success rate…” but remembered that while there’s a lot of unknown within the 30-46% gap, it’s still 30-46% closer than we have been for the past 3 years.
In full honesty, I’m anxious about all of the medications that support the process of IVF. I’ve always been sensitive to hormonal changes in my body and to medications in general. I’m hoping for the best, but anticipating feeling similar to my Clomid crazy summer that I’ve mentioned a few times in previous posts 😉
There are so many moving parts to this process that can feel overwhelming at times. Between the timing of your shots, staying on top of your pills, frequent blood work, lots of ultrasounds, phone calls, appointments, and going under anesthesia for the retrieval and transfer it’s easy to feel like you have no idea what you’re doing.
Luckily I’ve been blessed with the amazing team at Utah Fertility and the loved ones in my life that will continue to support us throughout this crazy process.
